How It Compares
How Anderson Tuftex Compares
Anderson Tuftex vs. Standard Shaw Hardwood: Anderson Tuftex is Shaw Industries' premium hardwood and carpet brand. Compared to Shaw's mainstream hardwood lines, Anderson Tuftex hardwood features wider planks, hand-scraped textures, and more nuanced stain finishes. It's positioned as a step up from standard retail-grade hardwood, comparable to Bruce Plus or Mirage in the premium tier.
Anderson Tuftex vs. Site-Finished Hardwood: Anderson Tuftex engineered hardwood comes pre-finished from the factory, eliminating the dust and time of on-site finishing. The factory finish is also more durable than a typical site-applied polyurethane — multiple aluminum-oxide coats baked under UV light, not achievable with on-site application.

Anderson Tuftex FAQs
Is Anderson Tuftex the same as Shaw?
Anderson Tuftex is Shaw Industries' premium hardwood brand. It's manufactured in the same Georgia facilities as Shaw Floors but markets distinct, design-led collections including Provincial, Reawaken, The Gallery, and Bernina Maple. Same parent company; different design and price tier.
Can Anderson Tuftex hardwood be refinished?
Yes. Anderson Tuftex's premium tier (Grand Estate, Bernina Maple, Provincial Plank) features 4mm to 6mm wear layers that can be refinished multiple times. Entry-tier collections with thinner wear layers cannot be refinished and rely on the factory finish for the life of the floor.
What's the difference between Anderson Tuftex's Provincial and Provincial Parquet?
Provincial Plank is a 7.5" wide, straight-lay engineered hardwood with a 4mm wear layer. Provincial Parquet is the same wood in pre-cut 31.5" herringbone modules designed for diagonal-pattern installation — same species and finish, different shape and install method.
How thick are Anderson Tuftex wear layers?
Anderson Tuftex offers some of the thickest wear layers in the engineered hardwood category. Entry tiers start at 1mm to 2mm, mid-tier collections feature 3mm to 4mm, and the premium tier (Grand Estate, select Provincial styles) reaches 6mm — comparable to many solid hardwood floors in refinish potential.
Does Anderson Tuftex offer hardwood for kitchens?
Yes. Anderson Tuftex's wider plank collections with thick wear layers are well-suited for kitchens. Look for styles with 4mm+ wear layers and review the engineered construction — multi-ply engineered hardwood handles moisture variation better than solid hardwood in kitchens.
